Patient's question:
Doctor, my husband and I had sex during the ovulation period last month, but he said he didn't leave sperm in my body. This month, I haven't had my period, but I took a test and it showed I'm not pregnant. I'm very worried and don't know what's going on. Could it be an ectopic pregnancy? What is the chance of ectopic pregnancy? Thank you!Doctor's answer:
Ectopic pregnancy, also known as tubal pregnancy. The most common type is fallopian tube pregnancy. About 15 days after intercourse, you can use morning urine for an early pregnancy test, or about 10 days after intercourse, you can have a blood test to check the levels of progesterone and hCG in your body to see if you are pregnant. After pregnancy, around 42 days after the menstrual period, an ultrasound can be performed to check if the gestational sac has reached the uterine cavity to rule out the possibility of ectopic pregnancy.
