Can you get pregnant with a cleanliness level of III?

Patient's question:

Got a fungal vaginal infection, treated with Daktarin for a month (five boxes), had two menstrual periods. This month, my period didn't come. I went to the hospital to test my vaginal discharge, and there were no trichomonas or fungi detected. The vaginal cleanliness was rated III. The doctor prescribed Lactobacillus Junning live bacteria capsules (vaginal use) and Huangteng tablets (oral). This treatment should be continued for two more courses. Is this treatment okay? If it doesn't work, can I get pregnant?

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Pregnant women are a high-risk group for candidal vulvovaginitis. The reasons are as follows: During pregnancy, the increase in sexual hormone levels leads to higher glycogen content in vaginal epithelium and changes in vaginal pH. At the same time, the renal sugar threshold decreases, resulting in elevated urinary sugar levels. All these factors favor the growth and reproduction of Candida. Statistics show that approximately one-third of pregnant women carry Candida in their vaginas, with an incidence rate of around 15%. In contrast, the rate of Candida carriage in healthy women is only 10% to 20%. If pregnant women become infected, a very small number of cases may involve Candida ascending through the cervix to penetrate the fetal membrane and infect the fetus, potentially causing premature birth. Additionally, when a baby is delivered through the mother's vaginal canal, it may also be infected with Candida, often leading to oral candidiasis, such as thrush, which is caused by oral Candida infection. Some infants may also develop candidal dermatitis around the anus. Therefore, to prevent infection of the fetus, pregnant women with candidal vulvovaginitis should seek active treatment. Local medication is recommended for treatment. It is advised to conceive again after the condition is fully cured.
