Can you have children with varicocele?

Patient's question:

Do you have varicocele? Can you have children now? What treatment do you need?

Doctor's answer:

Varicocele can be treated, and after recovery, normal fertility can still be maintained. Varicocele is caused by blood stasis in the veins of the spermatic cord due to some reason, leading to the tortuous, elongated, and dilated plexus of veins in the spermatic cord, forming a worm-like mass in the scrotum. When varicocele occurs in one side of the spermatic cord, blood flow increases, causing local temperature to rise. At the same time, it affects the quality of sperm in your body and increases the likelihood of sperm malformation. Untimely symptomatic treatment can affect sexual function, impair sperm quality, and lead to infertility.
