Collection of Ancient Chinese Women Writers

Author: Wang Yantie
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1999-02-01
Features:
1. This collection includes works by female authors from the early Tang Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty, titled "A Collection of Ancient Chinese Women Writers."
2. The works included in this collection are limited to poetry, ci poems, prose, and qu (a form of vernacular poetry). Due to considerations of scope, other genres such as drama and fiction are not included in this collection and will be compiled in separate volumes in the future.
3. The writers are arranged chronologically by dynasty. Within each dynasty, writers are ordered roughly by the timeline of their lives, rather than by social status. The order of works within each writer is generally poetry and ci poems first, followed by prose and qu. If a writer has only one type of work, the category is not labeled.
4. Author introductions generally provide the writer's courtesy name, sobriquet, place of origin, birth and death dates, identity, and information about their works. However, not all introductions contain all these details, and the level of detail varies. Some introductions include only a name, while others cannot even confirm the writer's full name. The extent of detail in author introductions depends on the specific circumstances.
5. Some works may exist in different versions with textual variations. This collection does not perform textual collation.
6. The sources of the works are usually noted in the text. To save space, the sources of works from collected volumes are not listed individually, but works added outside of collected volumes are noted in the text.
7. All traditional Chinese characters in this collection are converted to simplified characters. In cases where the works contain variant characters, they are generally replaced with standardized characters.
