Patient's question:
Hello: I always have pain on the left side of my abdomen. The ultrasound report shows no issues in the appendicular area. Can it be confirmed that it's not appendicitis? If it's not appendicitis, could it be a colorectal disease?First follow-up question: Would abdominal pain caused by intestinal spasm occur every day, and would it continue indefinitely?
Doctor's answer:
In the female internal reproductive organs, the fallopian tubes and ovaries are referred to as adnexa of the uterus. Adnexitis refers to the inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries. Generally, there are no abnormal findings on ultrasound unless there is hydrosalpinx or the formation of a tubo-ovarian abscess, in which case ultrasound can detect masses. In acute tubo-ovarian, the discharge may appear purulent or homogeneous mucous, with tenderness and pain in the adnexa. Sometimes, inflammatory masses due to adhesion of the fallopian tubes and ovaries can be palpated, with unclear boundaries and restricted mobility.
