Having a painless abortion, why is there bleeding?

Patient's question:

I had a painless abortion on the 20th. A few days ago, there was almost no bleeding. On the 25th, I bled for half a day, and then suddenly there was more bleeding than before. What's going on? I am currently taking Fluconazole dispersible tablets, once a day, one tablet each time. I just want to ask, do I need to take anything else?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, after an induced abortion, there may be vaginal bleeding. The amount of bleeding varies from person to person. Some may have less bleeding after the procedure, or even no bleeding at all. Others may not have bleeding for the first few days after the abortion but then experience vaginal bleeding later. In fact, as long as the bleeding after an induced abortion is less than the amount of your usual menstrual period and does not last more than two weeks, with no obvious abnormalities, there is no need to worry.
Generally, after an induced abortion, you may experience mild lower abdominal discomfort, lower abdominal pain, or a small amount of vaginal bleeding. If the symptoms are mild, treatment is not necessary. However, if the symptoms are severe, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment.
