What Causes Chronic Follicular Cysts

Patient's question:

What are the causes of chronic follicular cysts?

Doctor's answer:

Hello
Ovarian cysts usually do not cause symptoms, but you may notice a solid, painless lump in the lower abdomen or experience pain during intercourse. Large cysts can compress the area near the bladder, leading to urinary retention, although this is rare. When cysts affect hormone production, symptoms such as irregular vaginal bleeding or excessive body hair (see "Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Ovary Dysfunction") may occur. Cysts can also twist, causing severe abdominal pain, nausea, and fever.
Ovarian cysts, strictly speaking, are a type of ovarian tumor, referring to cystic growths forming within the ovaries. Since they are tumors, they can be classified as benign or malignant, cystic or solid. Malignant ovarian tumors have a high mortality rate and rank first among gynecological tumors. Therefore, once it is confirmed that it is a left ovarian cyst, attention should be paid.
