Features: On New Poetry is the lecture notes by Fei Ming when he taught modern literature at the Chinese Department of Peking University in the 1930s, comprising twelve chapters. In the 1940s, it was edited by Huang Yu and prefaces by Zhou Zuoren, and published as the fifth volume of the Yiwen Society Yiwen Series by Beijing Xinmin Press in November 1944. After returning to Peking University in 1946, the author added four more chapters, but they were not published during his lifetime. In February 1984, the People's Literature Publishing House merged the two parts, removed the prefaces and appendices of the original version, and added Q&A on New Poetry, written by the author in 1934, to publish the revised edition of On New Poetry. As the only monograph by a modern writer on new poetry, On New Poetry holds significant academic value. Fei Ming discusses the past and present in the book, comparing new poetry with traditional poetry in both content and form, and analyzes the successes and failures of representative new poets from the May Fourth Movement to the 1930s, such as Hu Shi, Shen Yinmo, Liu Banrong, Lu Xun, Zhou Zuoren, Kang Baqing, the "Lake Shore" quartet, Bing Xin, Guo Moruo, Bian Zhilin, Lin Geng, and Feng Zhi, based on his own poetic experiences. He also discovers lesser-known poets like Zhu Yingdan and offers his insights into the future development of new poetry. The entire book
