In the 1980s, Yang Renkai, along with experts such as Xie Zhiliu and Qi Gong, formed the "National Ancient Calligraphy and Painting Appraisal Group." Over eight years, they traveled across museums, antique shops, and libraries nationwide, authenticating and researching over 20,000 ancient calligraphy and painting works.
Author Xu Guangrong, President of the Liaoning Biographical Literature Association, introduces that the creation of "The Master of National Treasure Appraisal: Yang Renkai" took nine months and consists of 14 chapters with over 300,000 words, comprehensively elaborating on the extraordinary and winding life of the late Mr. Yang. Xu Guangrong states that to fully grasp the personality charm of the late Mr. Yang, he spent over three years in interview preparation, gathering firsthand materials from the subject himself and his relatives, friends, and colleagues. Additionally, he carefully studied over 2 million words of Mr. Yang's writings, familiarizing himself with the numerous fields he explored, including the history of Chinese art, the history of calligraphy, and the history of calligraphy and painting appraisal.
