Features: I have a collection of "forbidden books"
I walked into a gray apartment in the city of Paris, and Jin Dequan greeted me from inside, telling me such a message: "Mr. Christian Bougouma sent you a large pack of books and asked me to deliver them to you." That was around 1981, not long before my second visit to Paris and return to China. I don’t have a good memory, and with the passage of many years, if it were other matters, I would have forgotten them completely by now, but this scene, this sentence, I have always remembered very clearly. Dequan was a master’s student in the Department of Foreign Literature at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He graduated early from Nanjing University’s Department of Foreign Languages and demonstrated a high level of ability right after entering the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He had both linguistic talent and literary ability, and if he had continued along the path of humanities, his achievements would have been limitless. However, after obtaining his Ph.D. from the University of Paris in France, he turned to economics and technology, achieving great success in his career and becoming the general manager of a world-class French company in the Far East. During my visit to Paris, he was working hard at the University of Paris. He was very familiar with the famous French publisher Christian Bougouma, and it was Dequan who arranged and accompanied me during my visit to the editor-in-chief of the "10/18 Series."
