Openmind Intermediate Chinese

Author: Sun Hui, Editor-in-Chief

Publish Date: 1987-06-01
Features: As a textbook for spoken Chinese, this book does not primarily address issues related to written Chinese instruction. Considering that not all Chinese learners have studied simplified characters, the book provides equal opportunities and conditions for learners with different backgrounds by printing the dialogues, basic character list, and new character list in three forms: simplified characters, traditional characters, and Pinyin. Each unit of the book is designed around a central topic, with several sub-topics explored from different angles. The dialogues presented under each sub-topic are selected from scenarios or activities that foreign students might encounter or participate in while living in China. Therefore, this book is suitable for classroom teaching in schools and also for language preparation before studying in China. Each dialogue in the unit is designed from three aspects: linguistic context, sentence structure, and language function. The sentence structure and language function are also listed in a summary form at the beginning of each unit, serving as references for both teaching and learning.
