Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. What is true erosion?Doctor's answer:
Answer: True erosion: Due to the frequent presence of a large amount of mucus or purulent secretions on the surface of the cervix, these secretions, over a long period of stimulation and infiltration, cause the squamous epithelium around the external os of the cervix to lose vitality and fall off, forming ulcers. This is true erosion. However, this eroded surface is quickly covered by the surrounding columnar epithelium, forming a red area with a granular surface and a certain luster, which is known as pseudo-erosion. In our daily work, the cervical erosion we commonly encounter is mostly pseudo-erosion, while true erosion is only a transient stage in this pathological process. Its outcome will be the coverage of the surface by columnar epithelium, transforming it into pseudo-erosion.
