Features: "Wild Tales" portrays the national character and spirit of Bulgarians through a rich and diverse array of "wild" scenes in the Rodopi Mountains in southwestern Bulgaria over more than 100 years. It praises the goodness and beauty of the humanity of these mountain dwellers, who are enveloped in the thick mist of "wildness." The novel was awarded the Dimitrov Literary Prize in 1969. However, written in the Rodopi Mountain dialect by Monta, it poses significant translation challenges, and our Bulgarian scholars in China were unable to take up the task for a long time.
