Doctor's answer:

Cervical polyps are often overlooked because over one-third of patients lack obvious symptoms and are only discovered during a doctor's examination. Even when symptoms do occur, they are usually mild, primarily, or slight bleeding after sexual intercourse, sometimes mistaken for "menstruation." In some cases, the bleeding amount can be similar to that of a normal menstrual period. Some patients may have yellowish or foul-smelling discharge, or blood-tinged discharge. It can also manifest as postmenopausal vaginal bleeding, and unmarried patients often present with a swollen mass protruding from the vaginal opening.
Very small cervical polyps often cause no symptoms and are typically detected during a gynecological examination. Larger polyps are more likely to cause bloody discharge or contact bleeding, especially after sexual intercourse or straining during bowel movements, leading to slight bleeding. These symptoms are very similar to those of early cervical cancer, so early examination and timely treatment are essential.
