Features: Comrade Wuchen's collection of essays mainly includes papers on phonology, divided into 6 categories and 6 sections. Category 1, Jin Dynasty phonology and Tang Dynasty phonology; Category 2, Song and Yuan Dynasty phonology and Ji'an dialect; Category 3, Zhongyuan Yinyun and Zhongyuan Yayin; Category 4, the history of Japanese research on Chinese phonology; Category 5, late Ming Dynasty Shandong dialect and Northeastern dialect; Category 6, textual research on phonological documents and the study of Chinese "tonal variation" marking symbols. A total of 33 papers. These essays generally reflect Comrade Wuchen's research scope, content, and achievements in phonology over the past decade. The most notable aspects include:
(1) Analyzing the nature of "harmonizing tones" in He Chao's Jin Shu Yinyi, it is pointed out that they differ from Zhu Xi's "harmonizing sounds." They were used to annotate the rhymes of Jin Dynasty poetry using the direct pronunciation method, reflecting the actual pronunciation of the time, providing valuable material for studying Jin Dynasty phonology.
(2) Conducting an in-depth study of the Song Dynasty Nine Classics Direct Pronunciation and Show Your Child, multiple articles were written, revealing that while they were also influenced by traditional rhyme books, they largely reflected the development and changes of Song Dynasty phonology.
(3) Discovering the 19 rhyme parts and rhyme lists of Zhongyuan Yayin from a Ming Dynasty manuscript Bianyin Zuan Yao, solving a long-standing puzzle and further confirming the close relationship between Zhongyuan Yinyun and Zhongyuan Yayin.
(4) During a one-year academic visit to Japan, a comprehensive and in-depth study was conducted on how Japanese scholars utilized Japanese readings of Chinese characters and Korean-derived phonetic symbols to examine the ancient, medieval, and modern phonology of Chinese.
(5) Interpreting the characteristics and nature of the 14 rhyme systems used in poetry and ci in the late Ming Dynasty novel Xingshi Yin Yuan.
