Men and women in China

Features: The writing of this book, with the exception of Engels' The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State as the most important guiding reference, many works on this subject also have certain reference value. The main ones include: Foucault's A History of Sexuality, Morris's The Naked Ape, Donella H. Meadows's The Story of Human Sexuality, Fei Xiaotong's Reproductive Systems, Liu Daling's Ancient Chinese Sex Culture, Min Jiayin (ed.) The Variations of Masculinity and Femininity, Wu Shichu and Li Xiuzhi's Chinese Views on Marriage and Wedding Customs, Jiang Xuyuan's Chinese Wives and Concubines, Kong Qingdong's Brothel Culture, among which Liu Daling's Ancient Chinese Sex Culture is particularly rich in materials and highly valuable for reference. Additionally, some viewpoints from Zhou Guoping's The Distance of Guarding and Yang Dongping's Urban Wind are also cited. Due to the scope of this book, it is not possible to list all references, so following international practice, a bibliography is provided here with gratitude. This book is primarily intended for general readers rather than experts, and many viewpoints are not thoroughly elaborated. For those interested in deeper exploration, please refer to my works Art Anthropology (Shanghai Literature and Art Press, 1992 edition) and Chit-Chat About the Chinese (Huaying Press, 1996 edition). In addition to describing and analyzing the sexual status and relationships of Chinese people, Chapter 3 reviews and examines the history of human and Chinese sexual relationships from the author's perspective, while Chapter 9 expresses the author's own views and opinions on gender relationships, love, marriage, family, and human nature. Since it is merely the author's own review and examination, as well as the author's own views and opinions, it does not impose the expectation that readers must agree. Whether praised or criticized, it is left to the readers.
