Current general condition: Under medication
Medical history: Has had one miscarriage
Previous diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes: First question supplement: What topical medicine should be used, what oral medicine should be taken, and how long does it take to cure this condition? Thank you.
Doctor's answer:
Hello:Treatment typically involves oral metronidazole and the vaginal insertion of tinidazole suppositories, with a course of 7-10 days, repeated for 3 months, along with 1% lactic acid solution for external vaginal. The husband should also be treated concurrently, and sexual activity should be avoided during the treatment period. Additionally, patients should pay attention to personal hygiene and avoid unsafe sex and cross-infection.
When treating trichomoniasis, local medication alone is insufficient because the bacteria can be present in many areas. Therefore, oral medication should be used in conjunction with local treatment. Oral medications like metronidazole, at a dose of 200mg three times daily, with a 7-day course, should be followed by a trichomoniasis test. If the result is negative, another course should be administered after the next menstrual period to consolidate the effect. Both partners should be treated simultaneously. Note that metronidazole should not be taken orally during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Additionally, local treatment should be administered concurrently. For example, after evening, 200mg of metronidazole can be inserted vaginally, with a 10-day course. Alternatively, one tablet of clindamycin can be inserted. During the treatment period, underwear and towels used for washing should be boiled for 5-10 minutes to ensure disinfection.
