Doctor's answer:

Uterine and ovarian cysts can affect people of all ages, but they are most common in women aged 20-50. Ovarian cysts are common tumors of the female reproductive system, with various different natures and shapes, among which cystic types are most prevalent, and they have a high risk of malignancy. Early diagnosis is difficult, with the main symptoms being lower abdominal discomfort, increased abdominal circumference, abdominal masses, abdominal pain, menstrual disorders, and compression symptoms. Ovarian cysts can be physiological (normal cysts that naturally disappear with the menstrual cycle) or pathological (cysts formed due to disease). Physiological cysts do not require surgery, while pathological cysts often need surgery for diagnosis and appropriate treatment. For women of childbearing age, the next steps depend on the nature of the cyst. Ultrasound results are very helpful for diagnosis. If ultrasound indicates a non-echoic cyst without septations, it is advisable to wait for 3 months and then repeat the ultrasound. If the cyst still exists after 3 months, surgical treatment should be considered. For other types of cysts, they are mostly pathological and should be surgically diagnosed.
