Features: This manual includes over 13,000 common Russian world place names and their derived adjectives found in books, newspapers, and magazines. It covers names of countries, administrative divisions, settlements, natural entities, as well as a small number of historical place names and famous landmarks. Primarily, the place names and adjectives are organized by country, with a focus on Soviet-era names and place name adjectives. The main purpose of this manual is to provide readers with the conversion relationship between Russian place names and adjectives, allowing them to look up corresponding place names from Russian adjectives or vice versa. For ease of use, entries are arranged in alphabetical order of the Russian alphabet for place names. Derived adjectives are listed on a new line alongside the corresponding place names. The Chinese translations of place names in this manual follow the "General Principles for the Romanization of Foreign Place Names" and the "Russian-Chinese Phonetic Table" issued by the Chinese Names Committee, as well as reference materials such as the "World Gazetteer" published by the China Encyclopedia Press, the "Soviet Place Names Translation Manual" edited by the Names Committee, and the "Russian-Chinese Place Names Translation Manual" published by the Knowledge Press. Since the 1990s, some countries have dissolved, and certain place names have changed. The compilers of this manual have made efforts to reflect these changes, such as the renaming of Leningrad to St. Petersburg in Russia. However, due to the limited availability of information, it is challenging to fully capture the changes in place names, as the primary task of this manual is to serve as a reference for readers to look up place names and their adjectives.
