Features: Mr. Qian Renkang is a renowned elder figure in the field of music theory in China, well-known for his profound knowledge and rigorous academic approach. With abundant materials and meticulous analysis, he wrote the book Interpretation of Chopin's Ballades, presenting original and persuasive insights. I was fortunate to preview the book before its publication, gaining great enlightenment. The book was first drafted in 1964. During the Cultural Revolution, most of Mr. Qian’s manuscripts were unfortunately lost, but this book miraculously survived and was preserved. It has now been thoroughly revised and edited by Mr. Qian and is finally made available to the public. This is a testament to the flourishing and prosperity of China’s music industry under the correct guidance of the Party since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee. To my knowledge, such specialized works are still rare in China. I would like to recommend this book to all music enthusiasts, especially piano teachers and professional music theorists. At the same time, I hope that more highly specialized and academically rigorous works will be published in the future, advancing China’s music education and theoretical research to an even higher level.
