It is the first systematic study to propose the academic and practical significance of Harbin Jewish research. This collection is a specialized study of the history and culture of Harbin Jews, featuring essays written from 1999 to 2004. The book outlines the origins of Harbin Jews, discusses their political, economic, and cultural activities in Harbin, as well as their contributions to the city's urban development and economic growth. The author distinguishes Harbin Jews from traditional Russian émigrés, focusing more on their ethnic identity. The book scientifically verifies and interprets popular legends about Harbin Jews with historical facts, proving the identities of certain Jews and giving them positive evaluations. At the same time, it connects Harbin's historical Jews with Jews worldwide, broadening the research scope and filling gaps in the study of global Jewish history, adding new insights. The book touches on the activities of prominent Harbin Jews such as Kaufman, Stiedelsky, Kabalkin, Soskin, Kagan, and Old Bartlett from different perspectives, deepening the understanding of these figures.
