Features: The book is divided into four parts: Part one is an introduction to complexity theory. It introduces the definition and research stages of complexity from the phenomena of complex worlds, elaborates on the definition and research methods of complex systems, the relationship between complexity and complex adaptive systems (CAS), the relationship between complex adaptive systems and self-emergence, and the classification of complex adaptive systems based on classifiers, and applies complex adaptive systems theory to study the characteristics of industrial clusters. The second part elaborates on the basic theory of industrial clusters: driving mechanisms, competitiveness, and cluster policies. The driving mechanism of industrial clusters is the core issue of their development. Numerous research theories from different perspectives, using different analytical methods and tools, have been applied to explore various aspects of the driving mechanisms of industrial clusters. The third part conducts an analytical study of industrial clusters based on complexity theory. Industrial clusters are complex adaptive systems. Self-organization is a fundamental characteristic of industrial clusters, and emergence is the intrinsic mechanism of their self-organizing behavior. Based on the study of the evolution of division of labor models, this part analyzes and studies the economic system and industrial cluster system from a comprehensive micro-analytical perspective, exploring the emergence characteristics, mechanisms, and general processes of industrial clusters. The formation mechanism of clusters lies in cohesiveness and priority coupling, while the interaction mechanism of entities is manifested as division of labor, competition, and sharing. The fourth part uses well-known industrial clusters at home and abroad as analytical cases to explore their development practices, verify the theory, and explore new ideas. This book is based on the author's understanding of industrial clusters, complexity science, and emergence, as well as some research insights. On one hand, it aims to lay the groundwork for further deepening the study of complexity science; on the other hand, the problems we face are complex. From the perspective of complexity science, studying industrial clusters faces numerous theoretical and perspective barriers.
