Features: "A Quick Guide to the Gaokao English Syllabus" is designed for English teaching in China, which generally begins in the first grade of junior high school. From the first to the third year of high school, students study for six years according to the current requirements of the junior high school English teaching syllabus. In terms of vocabulary, students should learn 2,000 words and about 600 phrases. After graduating from high school and entering university, students undergo two more years of English study. According to the "College English Teaching Syllabus" for liberal arts and sciences, the vocabulary requirements for the CET-4 level are to learn an additional 2,420 words and 330 phrases. Theoretically, a college graduate who has studied English for 10 years should master 4,420 words and 930 phrases. In reality, due to various reasons, the current college English teaching syllabus and the junior high school syllabus fail to align scientifically, resulting in about 80 words being omitted from the college syllabus (i.e., the college syllabus assumes that junior high school students have learned them, while the junior high school syllabus actually does not include them). Additionally, the current English textbooks, whether for junior high school or college, can only cover about 70% of the syllabus. As a result, by the time college students graduate, the number of words they "have learned" is 4,420, but it is actually about 3,000; the number of phrases is not 930, but around 600.
