The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, and a second print run of 6,000 sets began in October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works in just a few months is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its release, many institutions and individuals have rushed to order it. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages view it as a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the academic and foreign language teaching communities in China. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, and foreign language teaching and research in China. Building on the success of the first batch of 54 titles, FLTRP is now launching the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the Collection features five key characteristics: First, it consists of 58 original English works, covering 33 disciplines, an increase from the first batch's 26. The newly added disciplines include the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origin of language, and grammaticalization theory, thereby more comprehensively meeting readers' needs. Second, it includes influential works by renowned contemporary linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority. Third, it incorporates classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press. Fourth, it continues to feature expert prefaces, with an even stronger team of experts compared to the first batch. Fifth, the Collection is prefaced by the world-renowned linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the distinguished Chinese linguist Professor Shen Jiashu. This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series, and it will play a positive role in advancing linguistic teaching, research, and foreign language teaching and research in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce the latest and most influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics from abroad, constantly offering them to a broad readership.
