Features: This volume contains the content of Marx's Economic Manuscripts of 1861-1863, notebooks VI-X, which is the beginning part of "Theories of Surplus Value." "Theories of Surplus Value" holds significant importance in the 1861-1863 manuscripts. In this volume, the discussion of Adam Smith occupies the largest portion. Smith was one of the main representatives of classical political economy in Britain. He created a relatively complete theoretical system of bourgeois classical political economy. "In Adam Smith, political economy had developed into something of a whole, and its scope had formed to a certain extent." Compared to the Physiocrats, Smith advanced bourgeois classical political economy to a new stage and reached the limit of objective understanding of bourgeois economic science in many issues. When compiling this volume, the translation of this part of "Theories of Surplus Value" was revised based on the German original of the second part, volume 3, issue 2 of the "Marx-Engels Collected Works" published in 1977.
