In 1940, he returned to Beijing from Jinan and performed at Qiming Tea House, where his reputation soared. He later traveled to Nanjing and Shanghai to perform, earning the title of "King of Monologue." In the late 1940s, he performed in Hong Kong, introducing xiangsheng art to audiences in Hong Kong and Macau.
