Features: To promote the development of contemporary calligraphy art and explore the transformative mysteries from copying to creation, we have organized the writing of this series titled "From Copying to Creation." Through the excavation of methodologies and values in the ancient calligraphic system for transitioning from copying to creation, these books take independent calligraphers or specific works as their subjects of interpretation, striving to comprehensively integrate multiple types of information, such as origins and schools, inheritance and innovation, subject and object, will and law, as well as textual materials and visual resources, in order to provide readers with beneficial reflections and insights.
For those calligraphers in the history of calligraphy who established schools, bridged past and future, and left a lasting legacy, we not only organize their works and literary materials on copying and creation but also conduct in-depth analysis of their implicit or explicit, relatively rational approaches and transitional methods. As for those brilliant and timeless masterpieces in the history of calligraphy that remain classics, we analyze their technical characteristics and artistic styles while paying particular attention to how later generations have understood, referenced, and selected them across different eras and levels.
Of course, during the writing process, the same literary materials may lead to different perspectives, interpretive methods, and presentation outcomes; and the same interpretive subjects may exhibit some degree of overlap. However, all of this will contribute to helping us find the points of convergence between tradition and contemporary art from a broader, more flexible, and thus more comprehensive standpoint. This is also the overall effect that this series of books aims to achieve.
