Features: Discrete mathematics is an important branch of modern mathematics, characterized by rigorous theory, abstract perspectives, and widespread applications. With the development of numerous disciplines such as computer science, integrated automation engineering, economics, information science, physics, chemistry, and biology, there is an urgent need for appropriate mathematical tools to address theoretical problems related to discrete quantities in these fields. This has driven the emergence and evolution of discrete mathematics, making it a core knowledge for many scientists, economic managers, and engineering technicians.
The main content of discrete mathematics consists of five parts: mathematical logic, set theory, introductory combinatorics, algebraic systems, and graph theory. During the writing process, we ensured that the content of these five parts is organically integrated, creating a cohesive and interconnected structure. Each part remains relatively independent, allowing for individual use when necessary. Our goal was to balance the completeness and systematic nature of the textbook while highlighting key concepts. The book is practical yet progressive, rich in content, self-contained, and emphasizes connections with secondary and primary school mathematics, particularly competitive mathematics.
