Features: This book is primarily compiled for the global Chinese audience to read and appreciate. Therefore, we have adopted a bilingual (Chinese-English) format for the preface, table of contents, and festival introductions. This book focuses on showcasing the rich connotations of traditional Chinese festivals, featuring seven traditional Chinese festivals selected from the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List announced by the Ministry of Culture of China. To help vividly and deeply understand the evolution and cultural significance of traditional Chinese festivals, we have adopted a predominantly visual, supplementary textual approach. We have invited Mr. Song Zhaolin, Vice President of the Chinese Folklore Society, as the chief editor of this book. The valuable images and documents not only enrich the content but also include many that have never been published before. A Visual Chronicle of Traditional Chinese Festivals employs vivid language and numerous artifacts images, blending text and visuals to describe the activities of China's traditional festivals, including the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Qingming Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Qixi Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Double Ninth Festival. How did these festivals originate? What historical changes have they undergone? What rituals and contents do they involve? How have they evolved? The authors of this book provide historical facts and documentary evidence to answer these questions. With its integrated text and visuals, the book is easy to understand and meets the demands of today's visual-centric reading era, making it a practical guide to traditional Chinese festivals. At the same time, it serves as an important reference book for cultural heritage preservation workers in China.
