Features: This is a dialogue record between twenty-five prosecutors and twenty-five minors. In the eyes of ordinary people, these twenty-five children are "problem" children, the product of educational failure; in the eyes of legal professionals, their common type of crime is sexual offense; to parents, they are too unreliable, failing to live up to the years of nurturing. However, I prefer to observe them through the lens of growth setbacks and the pain of youth.
Preface by Zhang Bencai, President of the China Procuratorial Daily: "The Unintended Decline Will Become Our Pain and Warning"
The Roses Shattered in the Case Files is a case analysis book organized and compiled by Sun Li, China's chief female prosecutor, with contributions from twenty-five senior prosecutors and a preface by Zhang Bencai, President of the China Procuratorial Daily. Since the 21st century, the crime index of Chinese youth has remained high, with one major factor being the sharp rise in sexual offense rates. Twenty-five prosecutors entered the high-fenced prison walls, personally visiting twenty-five prisons and juvenile detention centers to interview and investigate twenty-five typical sexual offense youth, documenting their pre- and post-crime states and psychological journeys through dialogues and interview notes, compiling this seemingly ordinary yet profound book.
Experts from the Youth Crime and Juvenile Justice Research Center of China University of Political Science and Law, among others, provide in-depth analysis from the "expert perspective," tracing the roots of the problem by examining their family environments, school environments, and the education and attention they received from parents and teachers, offering detailed critiques. It is believed that this extraordinary case file will provoke deep reflection.
