Features: This series of books has two key words: "Mountain and Water Stories" and "Mountain and Water Sentiment." The rich variety of "stories" behind the mountains and waters is a major characteristic of Chinese landscapes. Due to the long-standing civilization and historical heritage, as well as the long-term influence of agricultural life, the "stories" behind the mountains and waters in China are particularly abundant, meaning that the cultural landscapes are exceptionally rich, and the accumulation of historical and cultural heritage is particularly profound. This series blends landscape aesthetics, anecdotes and legends, literary works about mountains and waters, and local customs into one, offering readers a "comprehensive collection of mountain and water stories."
Mountain and Water Sentiment is a unique cultural mindset formed by the ancestors of China in their long-term agricultural society. The publication of this series in its current form is the result of the joint efforts of many colleagues and friends. Especially, Mr. Luo Zhewen, who dedicated himself to protecting cultural heritage by traversing the mountains and forests, and the renowned photographers Gu Di, Li Yuxiang, Wu Yinnan, and Li Xiande, provided a wealth of photographs of cultural relics, historic sites, and mountain and water art, adding a rich classical poetic charm to the series.
As one volume of the "Mountain and Water China" illustrated series, this book provides a panoramic scan of the landscapes, historic sites, legends, and local customs of Jiangsu Province, accompanied by nearly 200 illustrations. With its elegant prose and exquisite illustrations, it distinguishes itself from the currently popular tourism guides that focus on information and academic works that study history and culture. It allows readers to savor the experience of "walking" through the text.
