Features: This work conducts systematic and in-depth theoretical and empirical research on the grassland ecological degradation and economic growth issues in the four major grassland regions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau using economic methods. It proposes the theoretical viewpoint that natural grasslands in pastoral areas possess both private economic attributes and public ecological environmental attributes. Using econometric models and historical statistical data, it empirically examines the natural factors and human factors (such as overgrazing and grassland reclamation) that contribute to the grassland degradation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It also conducts empirical research and econometric analysis on the grassland pastoral growth models in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau pastoral areas and their intrinsic relationship with grassland degradation. The work puts forward basic ideas and policy recommendations for the transformation of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau pastoral areas from a traditional economic model to a sustainable grassland ecological economic model.
