Features: When facing the Zhongkao (senior high school entrance exam), students often say, "I really don’t know how to review Chinese?" Parents frequently mention that their children lack confidence in writing and struggle with modern Chinese reading comprehension. Indeed, the current state of Chinese in the Zhongkao is that what is taught is not tested, and what is tested is not taught. In other words, reading comprehension focuses on extracurricular texts, and in recent years, even classical Chinese reading comprehension has shifted to extracurricular materials. To put it simply, the Zhongkao Chinese exam places greater emphasis on assessing abilities. So, is there a way to review Chinese effectively, and can exam scores be improved? Our answer is yes. As long as one can explore the trends of the Zhongkao, organize key knowledge points, and conduct effective training, it is entirely possible to seize the initiative in the exam and achieve success.
To help students better review Chinese and prepare for the future Zhongkao, we, senior teachers with decades of experience in Chinese education and some mid-to-young core teaching staff, have come together to provide a systematic guidebook for students. This book is divided into two parts. The first part is a comprehensive solution to key and difficult points in Chinese knowledge, which explores the future direction of the Zhongkao Chinese exam and proposes corresponding review strategies for candidates. It also helps candidates systematically organize key knowledge points for the exam, highlighting key and difficult areas to assist them in mastering techniques and achieving breakthroughs in the future Zhongkao. The second part consists of training exercises for key and difficult points, providing materials for reading comprehension and writing from both perspectives. Through training, candidates can transform knowledge into abilities, improving their exam-taking skills and truly grasping the initiative in the exam.
In summary, this book is both exploratory and forward-looking, yet it is even more targeted and practical. With this book in hand, reviewing will not be a concern, and exam preparation will be much easier. Although the main contributors to this book are senior teachers with extensive experience in secondary school Chinese education, well-versed in exam trends, and familiar with the curriculum standards, capable of grasping the Basic Requirements and Training for Chinese Language Teaching, and having participated in multiple editions of Chinese teaching materials and mock exams, it is inevitable that there may be omissions or oversights due to the variability of exams each year, as well as limitations in our own expertise and the constraints of time. We sincerely hope that experts, teachers, and students will kindly provide feedback as they use this book.
