Features: This is a book centered around the wolf, delving into the characteristics of Western culture and even literature and art. The wolf mentioned in the book is not the natural wolf but the cultural wolf, an important gene in Western culture. Reading this book is like embarking on a historical and cultural exploration journey with the author. First, you explore the original mythological archetype of the wolf in Native American mythology and the Roman legend of the she-wolf, where primitive humans revered the wolf as a hero. Then, you see how the wolf was "demonized" and entered Western fairy tales and classical literature. After enduring the suppression of medieval Christianity, the "wolf nature" rose again during the Renaissance when human nature was liberated. This book argues that "wolf nature" originates from the farthest reaches of history and culture, resides in the deepest parts of the human heart, and is even more active in contemporary popular culture. It symbolizes greed, desire, passion, and temptation. It can inspire innovation in literature and art, social change, but also overturn order, tradition, and bring disaster. The book consists of 16 chapters and over 400 illustrations, showcasing the "wolf-infused scenery" in the forest of history and culture. It is a rare academic work in recent years that is both solid and close to reality. It can help readers gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics of Western culture and unravel the mysteries of the current bizarre popular culture. Know the world, know yourself.
