Features: Comfortable, originally named Shu Changge, originally from Cixi, Zhejiang, born in Beijing in 1916. A famous Chinese film actor and director. Influenced by his father, Shu Shu loved Peking Opera since childhood and began performing at the age of ten, once studying under Mei Lanfang. In 1933, he entered Fudan University and later transferred to the Law Department of Zhizhi University. In 1935, he joined the Shanghai University Drama Association and performed in the play "Black Hell." After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he dropped out of school and joined Yu Ling's Qingniao Drama Society, performing in plays such as "Thunderstorm" and "Sunrise." He also performed in over 40 plays in drama societies like Xiaofeng and Zhongfa, including "Wu Zetian," "The True Story of Ah Q," "The Wild Field," and "Yue Fei," becoming a highly acclaimed young actor on the Shanghai theater scene at the time. The ordinary text and numerous old photographs preserved for years together depict the extraordinary lives of three older generations of Chinese film stars—Shu Shu, Murong Wan'er, and Fenghuang—whose artistic and emotional lives intertwined. Whether it was Shu Shu being expelled by the Governor of Hong Kong, Murong Wan'er's steadfast follow-up, or Murong Wan'er's tragic death during the Cultural Revolution, or the subsequent of Shu Shu and Fenghuang, who weathered storms together and remain together to this day—all are deeply moving. Most of the photos in the book are being publicly shared for the first time.
