Publishing Date: 2006-01-01
Features: This book was written by Liu Wusheng, the former head of the Zhou Enlai Research Group at the Documentation and Research Center of the CPC Central Committee (divided into two subgroups: Life and Works), and was preface by Jin Chongji, a prominent Party history expert. The book is rich in content, well-documented, and highly readable. Its structure is well-organized, appropriately concise and detailed, with fluent and elegant writing, truly recording Zhou Enlai's experiences in his later years, particularly during the "Cultural Revolution." The author was moved to write this book upon seeing some books and articles abroad that (willfully slandered Zhou Enlai), which he found unbearable. Based on his decade-long study, editing of Zhou Enlai's works, life, and thoughts, he firmly believed that Zhou Enlai was not the person depicted in those slanderous writings. Thus, he decided to take up his pen to counter those falsehoods and to clear Zhou Enlai's name. As an expert in studying Zhou Enlai's life and works, the author Liu Wusheng had the opportunity to systematically read a large amount of archival materials and interview relevant individuals. In recent years, he has published many valuable research findings. For this project, he dedicated two years to studying Zhou Enlai during the "Cultural Revolution," striving to faithfully recreate the historical truth. On January 8, 2006, marked the 30th anniversary of Zhou Enlai's passing. The author also hoped that the publication of this book would serve as a tribute and solace to Zhou Enlai's spirit.
