Features: This paper takes the Sino-Tibetan language family as the research object, describing the basic features of Sino-Tibetan four-syllable words and revealing the internal driving forces and external influences on their generation and development. The research finds that languages in the Sino-Tibetan language family generally have four-syllable words, which exhibit a high degree of consistency in features. This consistency does not stem from the common features of Proto-Sino-Tibetan but rather from the formation and development of various languages within their respective linguistic systems. Therefore, this paper argues that Tibetan four-syllable words are the result of linguistic typological influence. The full text is divided into five chapters. This paper employs a combination of descriptive and comparative methods, as well as synchronic and diachronic approaches, to conduct micro-level, systematic descriptions based on rich linguistic data, followed by comparative analysis. It provides synchronic descriptions of four-syllable words in the vast majority of Sino-Tibetan languages and selects representative languages for diachronic examination and analysis. Through mutual verification between synchronic and diachronic perspectives, it offers a linguistic mechanism-based explanation for the abundance of four-syllable words in Sino-Tibetan languages. The paper also conducts multi-level, multi-angle statistical analyses of four-syllable words in typical languages, providing reliable data for the overall research and the final conclusions.
