Author: (Japan) Ryuzo Hayashi and Yi Yi Xu
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-01-01
Features: This book is broadly divided into three parts. The first part is the preface, which explores the position of craft in various arts and attempts to clearly explain the relationship between art and craft in the field of shaping. The middle part is the classification of various crafts, aiming to illustrate the special characteristics of each craft and their boundaries; because the theory of the beauty of craft is craft culture theory. Here, the last part discusses the future realization of beauty and the vast space available for craft to flourish, as well as why craft is a crucial element of beauty. The authors have compiled various scattered discussions on craft so far and organized them into this book, intending to present them in order as sincerely as possible. To avoid abstract arguments in all chapters, the book strives to provide concrete examples continuously. Illustrations with brief notes are also included in the book. This is because discussing beauty without reference to the object is largely meaningless.
