Learning history allows you to understand the Tang and Song emperors, Genghis Khan, Yue Fei, and Lin Zexu; you can learn about the splendid culture, advanced productivity, and vast territory of ancient China, as well as the humiliation of modern China—how the Chinese people suffered under the oppression of imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucratic capitalism for nearly a century, struggling to survive in hunger and misery, until the founding of the People's Republic of China. These experiences make you realize and understand the weight of the task on your shoulders! Learning politics allows you to understand the laws of the commodity economy, why capitalists get rich, to recognize the faults of capitalism in essence, to strengthen your commitment to socialism, to arm yourself with Marxism, and to remain steadfast in the face of changing international situations. You can also study literature, art, and more. In short, reading lets you see vivid historical scenes and lively natural landscapes, enhancing your wisdom and boosting your morale. The joy of reading, because reading can bring you fruitful rewards. A stack of books piled on the desk—reading a little today, a little tomorrow, day after day. The camellia blooms and fades, only to bloom again. A stack of books disappears in your eyes. They are no longer knowledge printed on paper but have become a book of the heart, meticulously arranged and printed with your heart and blood. A stack of books is stored in a small piece of your heart, no longer needing to be flipped through. When needed, a clear answer will naturally arise in your mind. During leisure time, looking at the books on the desk and reflecting on your book of the heart—can you not find joy in this? The joy of reading, the joy beyond reading. Standing in a desolate wilderness, you suddenly recall Ma Zhiyuan's "Autumn Wind Over the River," and you realize, "Oh, that was the situation Ma Zhiyuan was in at the time!" For the artistic conception of poetry, you gain a deeper appreciation, and when writing, using a touch of it at the right moment can make your essay shine. From something that can only be understood but not expressed to something that can be expressed—is this not a joy? In speech competitions or class meetings, your profound knowledge and eloquent speeches flow like the cascading Lu Mountain waterfall, stirring everyone's pulse, conquering everyone's heart, and evoking resonance, as if time itself pauses for you.
