Publish Date: 2006-01-01
Features: "The Biographical Records of the Generals and Marshals of the People's Liberation Army of China," which compiles the resumes and photographs of the marshals and generals promoted to ranks between 1955 and 1964. The book is published in volumes. The marshals and grand marshals are arranged according to the official list announced at the time. Others are sorted in descending order of seniority: senior generals, medium-ranking generals, and junior generals, with names within the same rank arranged by stroke order. Generals promoted between 1955 and 1964, and those promoted after 1988 (inclusive) with higher ranks than those before, are introduced in the text but not listed in the order of the roster. The first volume includes 10 marshals, 10 grand marshals, 57 senior generals, and 177 medium-ranking generals. The 1,360 junior generals are divided between the second and third volumes. A few individuals later took a negative path, but to accurately reflect history and preserve the records in their entirety, they are still included in this book. All available materials for the book were compiled by August 2005. Due to the large number of units and frequent changes associated with the individuals, some information remains incomplete. We will continue to collect materials for further revisions.
