"Eight Important Points" for Hard-tip Tracing
Holding the Pen:
Place the fleshy part of the thumb on the left upper side of the pen holder, 3 cm away from the tip, with the index finger on the middle front of the holder. Rest the middle finger's knuckle on the right lower side, with all three fingers applying equal force, focusing the power about 3 cm from the tip for flexible and effortless movement. The ring finger and little finger should gradually move closer to the middle finger, with all fingers curving towards the palm, maintaining a slightly open palm for better control. The pen holder should be tilted to the right rear, forming a 45-55 degree angle with the paper surface.
Using the Pen:
For beginners, a dull-tip pencil is recommended for easy control of pressure and speed. After mastering basic strokes and structure, a pen can be used for further improvement.
Posture:
When learning, maintain a proper seated posture, keeping a fist's distance from the desk. Keep the head straight, avoid leaning forward, and place both forearms on the sides of the exercise book. Both feet should be flat on the ground, not crossed.
Desk and Chair:
The chair height should be adjusted so that your thighs are level with the ground when your feet are flat on the ground. The desk height should allow your forearms to naturally hang down when open.
Lighting:
When reading or writing under light, ensure it comes from a slightly higher position at the left front, avoiding direct vertical or horizontal. The light intensity should be moderate, allowing for close viewing without glare.
Choosing a Style:
Beginners should start with regular script (), focusing on neatness and simplicity rather than just aesthetics or fancy appearance. The characters should be slightly larger to facilitate studying stroke structure.
Selecting a Copybook:
Choose a copybook that you enjoy and is recognized by experts. Random selection and frequent changes are not advisable.
Perseverance:
Progress gradually and persistently. Avoid or intermittent practice. Use both hands and brain, avoiding mechanical imitation. Protect children's interest by tracing the same stroke or radical multiple times at the beginning, and practice long-term. Short poems, stories, or passages can be used as repetitive units to prevent boredom.
