Features: The Center for the Study of Foreign Family Law and Women's Theory was established in April 2005 at Southwest University of Political Science and Law. It is China's special academic institution dedicated to the study of foreign family law, and the current director is Professor Chen Wei, a doctoral supervisor at the School of Civil and Commercial Law, Southwest University of Political Science and Law. The main tasks of this "research center" are: to collaborate with experts and scholars both within and outside the university, as well as personnel from the Women's Federation and judicial practice departments, to focus on researching theoretical and practical issues in foreign and Chinese marriage, family, and inheritance law, as well as in the fields of women and children. Through the publication of the "Family Law Studies" series, it aims to promote a group of outstanding academic research achievements, providing valuable reference experiences for the improvement of China's marriage, family, and inheritance law, as well as the development of women's theory. It also proposes recommendations for legislative bodies to revise laws related to marriage, family, inheritance, and the protection of the rights and interests of women, children, and the elderly, while offering legal consulting services to judicial practice to achieve a healthy interaction between academic research, legislation, and the judiciary, thereby promoting academic research and exchange both domestically and internationally. The content of this book is divided into two parts: the main text and the appendices. The main text, excluding the preface, consists of nine chapters: Chapter 1 introduces the purpose, significance, and methods of comparative research on foreign family law, and on this basis, elaborates on the basic principles and development trends of modern foreign family law. Chapters 2 to 9 systematically and comprehensively introduce and evaluate modern foreign family systems from different perspectives, such as general principles of kinship, marriage law, marital relations law, parent-child law, adoption law, divorce law, guardianship law, and kinship support law, summarizing the legislative experiences and lessons of other countries while China's actual conditions to propose recommendations for improving China's marriage and family law. The book collects and cites a wealth of literature, drawing on a wide range of sources and integrating them comprehensively, demonstrating representativeness and novelty. The use of materials is appropriate and well-suited, and the author offers unique insights on many issues, reflecting a solid theoretical foundation and skilled writing ability. This book is an invaluable reference for those engaged in foreign-related judicial, civil affairs, notary, and legal work, as well as readers interested in foreign and Chinese family law.
