Features: The French Civil Procedure Code is one of the five codes drafted under Napoleon's leadership. Although it is not as well-known as the French Civil Code, it remains an influential classic in modern and contemporary procedural law worldwide. The French New Civil Procedure Code follows the basic model of adversary procedure, but also incorporates tendencies of inquisitorial procedure, which is a necessity of social development. The French New Civil Procedure Code explicitly states in its first chapter that it establishes and clearly expresses the "basic principles guiding the litigation," with particular emphasis on the provisions related to adversary procedure.
