Features: A Comprehensive History of the Western Xia presents a vivid and systematic portrayal of the political, economic, and cultural landscape of the Western Xia to the world using substantial and compelling historical facts, based on the materialist historical view of Marxism. It strongly affirms the status and role of the Western Xia in Chinese history. A Comprehensive History of the Western Xia not only enriches the content of Chinese history but also serves as an excellent textbook for patriotic education among young people. It will play an important role in the construction of socialist spiritual and material civilization in our country. A Comprehensive History of the Western Xia was a key project under the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" of the state. The completion of A Comprehensive History of the Western Xia has finally allowed me to see the history of the Western Xia that I had long wanted to read. Reading through the entire book, I deeply felt that everything I had wanted to say was already covered in it. Where Professor Baiyin did not touch upon, Professor Li Shi himself has written about it. Vertically, regarding the origins of the Dangxiang Qiang, their migration northward to establish a separatist regime, and until the fall of the Western Xia, the book clearly describes the achievements and contributions of the emperors and ministers of the Western Xia dynasties as well as their internal power struggles. Horizontally, the book comprehensively discusses the politics, economy, cultural education, science and technology, geography, and other aspects of the Western Xia. It is particularly worth mentioning that the Introduction section not only makes full use of the large amount of archaeological excavation materials unearthed in recent years but also utilizes Western Xia documents unearthed from the Khara-Khoto. This is something that previous Western Xia historians could hardly imagine or even come close to. It is understood that among the contributors to A Comprehensive History of the Western Xia, five of them are proficient in Western Xia script, and some of the authors have academic achievements renowned both at home and abroad. The high-level A Comprehensive History of the Western Xia, completed through the collaborative efforts of such a team of experts and scholars, not only delights readers but also inspires them to strive to catch up.
