Features: Taro Tsuji, who is determined to rise to prominence, faces the deceased and their families due to his misdiagnosis. On one hand, he is filled with inner fear and unease; on the other, he maintains a stubborn and self-righteous exterior as he mobilizes all his strength to win the lawsuit. After Taro Tsuji wins the initial trial, the Sasaki family insists on appealing. With the assistance of the upright lawyer Seiji Sekiguchi and the doctor Shigemi Shirimizu, they ultimately achieve victory. Although Taro Tsuji secures another election victory—the election for Academic Conference membership—he collapses under the dual blows of losing the lawsuit and being plagued by illness. Taro Tsuji, who should have become a politician or businessman, is instead a doctor. He forgets that "medicine is a prayer to God; although doctors are not gods, their duties are sacred and must not be defiled." The ambitious Taro Tsuji ultimately loses himself in his simple yet blunt desires.
