Features: Currently, China's economy, education, and statistics disciplines have undergone significant changes and developments. The country has established a statistical survey system based on censuses, with sampling surveys as the main body, and has integrated multiple survey methods, leading to major reforms in the statistical system. In society, especially in market economic activities, the application of statistical methods has rapidly expanded in various fields such as finance, securities, insurance, investment, and financial management. The development of statistics itself has formed an independent statistical science. The broad statistical philosophy covering both natural and social sciences has not only elevated the academic status of statistics but also facilitated the integration and mutual learning among statistical disciplines, promoting their development. Based on the above understanding, this book strives to embody the following characteristics:
(1) Scientificity. As a science, statistics is applicable to both natural and social phenomena. Due to the quantitative, general, and variable nature of statistical objects, their methods of cognition also exhibit a certain degree of uniformity.
(2) Practicality. This book is suitable for undergraduate and college-level teaching and can also serve as a learning resource for statisticians. It is written in an accessible manner with numerous examples, making it highly suitable for students and statistical professionals.
(3) Fundamentality. This book emphasizes the cultivation and practice of fundamental theories, basic knowledge, and essential skills, highlighting the foundational role of the course. At the same time, it focuses on innovation, continuously improving and refining statistical theories and methods. It also ensures a smooth transition between this textbook and subsequent courses.
