Features: This book is a national-level planning textbook for the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" of general higher education, as well as a premium project research achievement under the "Construction Plan for 100 Excellent Courses in Higher Education." It is revised based on the second edition of Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry, published in 1993. Compared to the second edition, there are significant changes in content and chapters. The book is divided into two parts: Basic and Special Chapters. In terms of structure, it adopts a combined arrangement of chapters organized by functional groups, chapters organized by basic reaction mechanisms, and special chapters. In terms of content, nomenclature, the four major spectroscopies, stereochemistry (including conformation and configuration), aliphatic nucleophilic substitution and β-elimination reactions are combined into separate chapters, while aldol condensation and esterification are merged into one chapter. This is done to further emphasize the completeness and coherence of knowledge, to handle the relationship between individuality and generality more reasonably, and to pay more attention to the connections between different knowledge points. The special chapters introduce new achievements in the development of organic chemistry and related disciplines. At the end of each chapter, there is a guiding outline for the chapter and a bilingual glossary (Chinese-English). This book can be used as a textbook for chemistry majors in comprehensive universities, and is also suitable for students in other institutions, as well as readers interested in organic chemistry.
