Features: This book is one of the "Practical Fire Safety Series." It is divided into three chapters, primarily introducing the basic theories of fire extinguishing, the characteristics of various fire extinguishing agents (such as water-based agents, foam agents, dry chemical agents, inert gas agents, halon agents, and new halon alternatives, as well as aerosol agents), fire extinguishers and their use. At the end of the book, product standards and test methods for various fire extinguishing agents and fire extinguishers are provided. The book incorporates new research theories and emphasizes practicality and operability. It is suitable for engineering technicians engaged in fire extinguishing agent and fire extinguisher research, fire command officers and fire-fighting personnel, as well as serving as a teaching reference for fire engineering and related disciplines at universities and colleges. [Preface] Over the past century, humanity has accumulated extensive experience and achieved remarkable results in the fight against fires. Extensive fire extinguishing practices have demonstrated that a correct understanding of fire phenomena, revealing the laws governing the occurrence and development of fires, developing efficient fire extinguishing agents and their fire-fighting equipment, mastering the extinguishing mechanisms and characteristics of fire extinguishing agents, and scientifically and rationally configuring fire extinguishing agents and fire extinguishers play a crucial role in enhancing the combat effectiveness of fire-fighting forces, effectively controlling fires, and reducing fire losses. China's fire extinguishing technology has made encouraging progress over the decades, with the development of fire extinguishing agents suitable for various types of fires, such as water-based agents, foam agents, dry chemical agents, inert gas agents, halon agents, and eco-friendly new agents (halon alternatives, aerosol agents, etc.), as well as the development of corresponding fire extinguishers (fire systems will be elaborated in other volumes). Product standards and test method standards for fire extinguishing agents and fire extinguishers have been established. Although there is still a gap in quality and variety between China's fire extinguishing agents and fire extinguishers and those of developed countries, they generally meet the requirements of China's fire safety market. With economic development and social progress, the fire situation has become increasingly severe. Understanding the extinguishing conditions in the fire process, the extinguishing mechanisms and characteristics of fire extinguishing agents, and correctly selecting and using fire extinguishing agents and fire extinguishers are essential knowledge for fire-fighting personnel in the new era. To meet the needs of modern society, the author, based on years of teaching and research, has reviewed a wealth of relevant materials and compiled this book, "Fire Extinguishing Agents and Fire Extinguishers," to meet the needs of a broad readership. The book is divided into three chapters, covering the basic theories of fire extinguishing, the characteristics of various fire extinguishing agents, fire extinguishers and their use, as well as product standards and test methods for fire extinguishing agents and fire extinguishers. During the writing process, attention was paid to incorporating advanced technologies and experiences in fire extinguishing theories and fire extinguishing agent research from both domestic and international sources, emphasizing practicality and operability. The book is suitable for engineering technicians engaged in fire extinguishing agent and fire extinguisher research, fire command officers, fire safety management personnel in enterprises and institutions, and fire-fighting personnel. It can also serve as a teaching reference for fire engineering, safety technology engineering, and chemical engineering disciplines at universities and colleges. It is hoped that this book can provide valuable references for those engaged in fire suppression. Due to the author's limited expertise, there may be shortcomings in the book, and the author sincerely invites criticism and corrections from readers and peers. Compiler: September 2005
