Features: Comparative political economy is an important academic field, but also a loose academic field. It is important because comparative political economy, starting from the interaction of the state, society, and the economy, studies and explores major issues concerning national well-being, such as the economic adjustment, economic development, and economic transformation of the state. It is loose because comparative political economy is a hybrid of political economy and comparative politics, and both fields suffer from structural defects within their disciplines or domains. Comparative political economy is still in the process of formation in the West and has just begun to take root in China. It is hoped that this book can contribute to the normalization and development of this field in China. This book provides an introduction to comparative political economy, closely focusing on the relationship between the state, society, and the economy. It balances the analytical level at the international level and takes the microfoundations of the state and social organizations, as well as the influence of historical institutions, seriously in terms of analytical perspectives. The book is divided into three main parts: The historical part introduces the formation and evolution of the modern international political and economic system and delves into the survival and development of the state within the system. The paradigm part interprets the relationship between the state, society, and the economy from different analytical perspectives, such as the state and society, individuals and organizations, social alliances, and institutions. The thematic part specifically explores the interaction between the state, society, and the economy in developed countries, developing countries, and transitional countries.
