Features: Acupuncture and moxibustion are important components of traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture is an effective means of treating diseases and has been applied in clinical practice as early as the pre-Qin period. Through the clinical practice and theoretical exploration of generations of medical practitioners, by the time the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) was compiled, acupuncture and moxibustion had taken shape as a discipline. By the Jin Dynasty, with the publication of Huangfu Mi's Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon on Acupuncture and Moxibustion) as a milestone, acupuncture and moxibustion had developed into a relatively systematic discipline both in theory and practice. At this point, acupuncture and moxibustion as a discipline began to mature. By the mid-20th century, acupuncture and moxibustion had rapidly spread worldwide, laying an important scientific foundation.
